Maria Parham Health Welcomes Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Araba Ofosu-Somuah

Maria Parham Health is thrilled to announce the newest addition to its esteemed team of cardiologists, Dr. Araba Ofosu-Somuah. A dedicated specialist in interventional cardiology, Dr. Ofosu-Somuah brings a wealth of experience, a compassionate approach to patient care, and a commitment to advancing cardiovascular health.

From a young age, Dr. Ofosu-Somuah was inspired to pursue medicine by her grandmother’s battle with heart disease. Witnessing her grandmother’s health struggles ignited Dr. Ofosu-Somuah’s deep passion for understanding the complexities of the human heart. This personal connection motivated her to specialize in interventional cardiology, where she has become a staunch advocate for patient-centered care.

Dr. Ofosu-Somuah's approach to medicine goes beyond diagnosis and treatment. She believes that patient advocacy is as vital as medical expertise. Her philosophy centers on not only addressing medical conditions but also listening to patients, understanding their concerns, and guiding them with empathy and respect. Dr. Ofosu-Somuah is committed to ensuring that every patient feels heard, valued, and empowered in their healthcare journey.

Dr. Ofosu-Somuah completed her fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Inova Health System in 2023, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of North Carolina Health System in 2024. She earned her MD from the University of South Carolina in 2017 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University in 2013. Dr. Ofosu-Somuah completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Hospital from 2017 to 2020.

Her clinical focus includes addressing coronary artery disease, advancing cardio-obstetrics, and promoting health equity in medicine. Dr. Ofosu-Somuah is particularly passionate about innovative treatments for heart disease in women and bridging the gap in maternal and cardiovascular health. Her commitment extends to reducing health disparities and ensuring equitable, high-quality care for all patients.

Dr. Ofosu-Somuah will be seeing patients at Maria Parham Heart & Vascular in Henderson, where she will continue to advance the center's mission of providing exceptional cardiovascular care. Her expertise and compassionate approach are poised to make a significant impact on the lives of the patients she serves.
