Looking for relief from joint pain?
Thanks to joint aches and pains, many people find that everyday activities like gardening, biking, golfing, and even playing with kids or grandkids may bring more pain than pleasure. If you can relate, we may be able to help. Answer a few questions to see if you should speak with a provider about finding the right treatment to help put the go in your get-up-and-go again.
Orthopedic Diagnosis and Testing
Orthopedic pain has many different causes and an accurate diagnosis is crucial to getting the appropriate treatment. Common causes of pain may include osteoarthritis or injury to ligaments, tendons or bone. If joint pain is limiting your mobility and activity, a good diagnosis is your first step in resolving the pain.
The orthopedic doctors at Maria Parham are specialists in diagnosing and treating joint pain. As part of your evaluation and diagnosis, we will review your history along with performing a physical exam, including testing your range of motion and strength of muscles.
As a result of the exam, the doctor may ask you to have an X-ray, an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), an arthrogram or an aspiration arthrogram, or a gadolinium scan. These tests will help the doctor make a diagnosis. (If you already have X-rays, please bring them with you)
Orthopedic Treatment
We offer many effective treatment options and always begin treatment with the least invasive methods first. In more severe cases of joint pain, surgery may be recommended. Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive technique used to diagnose and treat joint problems. Maria Parham's orthopedic surgeons use highly specialized instruments, inserted through incisions about one-half inch in size, to reconstruct joints.
Orthopedic Surgery
Other patients may require full joint replacement surgery. In each case, our orthopedic surgeons perform surgical procedures to lessen pain, reduce recovery time and allow you to regain the full use of the joint as soon as possible. A rehabilitation program will help you get back to functioning to your fullest potential following surgery.
