Maria Parham Health Rings in 100th Day of 100th Year with Roaring 20s Celebration
April 11, 2025

Maria Parham Health marked a monumental milestone on Thursday, April 10th, celebrating the 100th Day of its 100th Year with a lively tribute to the hospital’s founding era: the Roaring 1920s.
In honor of Maria Parham’s incorporation in 1925, the MPH 100th Anniversary Committee transformed the John T. Church Classroom into The Century Club—a fully immersive, Prohibition-era speakeasy complete with jazz music, vintage décor, and a secret password required for entry. Guests embraced the theme in full 1920s fashion, arriving as flappers, gangsters, and Gatsby-inspired glam.
The event’s menu paid homage to popular fare from the era, featuring gourmet deviled eggs, bruschetta, savory meatballs, crab-stuffed shrimp, and the ever-popular 1920s “Giggle Juice” to toast the occasion. Lively jazz tunes created an authentic ambiance, transporting attendees back in time.
Adding to the vintage vibe, the adjacent auditorium was turned into a silent movie theater, screening Charlie Chaplin’s timeless classic, The Circus. With laughter echoing and spirits high, the event was truly “The Bee’s Knees.”
“This was more than just a party—it was a moment to honor our roots and the incredible legacy of care that Maria Parham Health has provided for a full century,” said Donna Young, Chairperson of the MPH 100th Anniversary Committee. “The energy, the history, and the team spirit were all on display. We couldn’t be more proud of what our hospital has accomplished.”
The celebration is part of a yearlong series of events commemorating Maria Parham Health’s centennial. The 100th Anniversary Committee—comprised of team members from departments across the hospital, including Marketing, Quality, IT, Medical Staff Services, Rehab, and more—has several exciting projects in the works. Upcoming highlights include the installation of a History Wall in the hospital lobby and the burial of a Maria Parham Time Capsule, designed to preserve the spirit of 2025 for future generations.
