Maria Parham Health Honors Local First Responders with Annual Appreciation Cookout
May 21, 2025

On May 20, 2025, Maria Parham Health proudly hosted its third annual Burgers for Badges event, honoring the courageous law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders who protect and serve our community each day.
Team members gathered to serve up a heartfelt “thank you” in the form of a classic cookout, featuring juicy beef and turkey burgers hot off the grill, all the fixin’s, potato salad, chips, and sweet desserts. The lunch was completely free for all first responders and served as a token of appreciation for their daily sacrifice and service.
"It’s always a privilege to welcome our local heroes to campus," said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. "These men and women show up for our community in the most critical moments—day or night, rain or shine. This lunch is just one small way we can say thank you and remind them that we see them, we support them, and we are grateful beyond words."
The event has become a meaningful annual tradition for Maria Parham Health, bringing together hospital staff and first responders in a spirit of gratitude and camaraderie. With laughter, shared stories, and warm hospitality, the afternoon served as a reminder of the deep bonds between healthcare providers and emergency services personnel.
Maria Parham Health extends a sincere thank-you to every responder who attended—and to those who couldn’t make it because they were out protecting the community. Your courage does not go unnoticed.
